About the project

The project proposal “It is all about the game” brings together three different organizations that are active in the sport sector of Badminton and racket sports in Bulgaria, Romania and Macedonia (Former Yugoslavic republic of Macedonia-FYROM). The three organizations are involved in the promotion, development, integration, facilitation and improvement of badminton and racket sports in the context of their statuses as federations and sport clubs in the South-East of Europe.

THE PROBLEM

Our project consortium is aimed at improving the conditions and the protection of athletes, especially the youngest, from health and safety hazards, related to sport activities and sport-related risks. Another field in which we want to emphasize on is the promotion of education in and through sport with focus on skills development in several areas.

The analysis of the group and region lead us to identify different skills that need and can be developed with the implementation of the project.

  • Skills related to identifying health risks and risk behaviour in the youth context
  • Skills linked to opposing negative tendencies in sport (such as doping, trauma, burn-out, career, etc)
  • The ability to learn with various methods (p2p, NFE/INF, etc) and using sport as a tool
  • Formal competences (entrepreneurship skills, digital competences, foreign language, juridical skills, etc)
  • Learning and educational support for staff, athletes and key stakeholders

Apart from that skill-set the participating organizations will develop their competences in :

  • Administrative capacity building in the form a transnational partnership between EU MS and program countries
  • Education on the key principles and needs of good governance and how they can be implied in the region
  • Teaching module on how to protect athletes from negative tendencies (doping, trauma, professional careers, etc)  from a leader/coach stand point assisted by external experts
  • Improving the possibility to develop the sport by adopting new strategies and training methods, innovative tools
  • Developing personal key competences linked to the managing and governing the sport sector

We want to focus on the steps needed to protect athletes, especially the youngest, from health and safety hazards. It is our aim to create and adopt a unifying strategy between the organizations on how to protect all levels of players :  the recreational and grass-root sport , amateur and high-level players from training and competition risks and how to facilitate the process of learning and education in athletes and staff. Some of the points we wan to put our attention on are :  risks caused by improper nutritioning, overtraining (overtraining syndrome – OS), poor governance and decision making, improper training methodologies, substance misuse (doping, stimulants, others) and others relevant factors.
